Oscar Cano Arias

Oscar Arias is an expert in public affairs with more than 15 years of experience in the EU lobbying world.

Oscar joined DSE in 2012 as Managing Director. He has over 15 years of experience in EU governmental affairs and has worked on a wide range of sectors such as pharmaceuticals, bioenergy and aviation.

Oscar started his career in the cabinet of Loyola de Palacio, former vice-president of the European Commission. He then joined the consultancy Hill & Knowlton, where he led several successful campaigns on biofuels and the liberalization of the ground-handling market in Spain. Oscar has also experience in international negotiations due to his three years as policy advisor in the European Commission.

A Spanish national, he is fluent in English and French with good knowledge of German and Greek. He holds a degree in Political Science and International Relations from the universities of Madrid, Athens and the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris, with MA in EU Studies from the College of Europe in Bruges (BE) and the Université Catholique de Louvain (BE).
